If you are interested in adopting a cat or kitten, please be sure to fill out an adoption application and email it to Davey’s KitCats. If you are approved, you will be notified within 72 hours. A signed Adoption Agreement will hold the cat or kitten for you until we can coordinate a time to complete the adoptio. The adoption fee is due at the time of adoption.
The adoption fee is a donation made to Davey’s KitCats to help cover the cost of providing care for each cat and kitten in our care before they find their forever home. All adults and kittens over the age of 6 months will be UTD on shots and spayed or neutered before going home. Kittens under 6 months will have their first vaccine only, unless otherwise specified.
Davey’s KitCats canNOT guarantee the health of the cats and kittens in our care. The cats and kittens come from feral colonies and owner surrenders so we do not have exact medical histories.
*Even if they have received a negative combo test, this does not mean they will be 100% healthy throughout their entire life. The combo test is only for FIV/FELV.
Since we work mostly with cats from one colony, not all cats and kittens will be combo tested for FIV/FELV. All tests for the 150+ cats we have done from this colony have been negative, so combo testing for these cats and kittens is done by request only. Any cats and kittens in our care from outside of the colony will be tested. However, policy is to only do the mom and one kitten per litter since “if one kitten is negative, they are all negative.” Tests on the remaining kittens are done by request.
We require all cats and kittens to be microchipped before they leave our care. They will be microchipped to Davey’s KitCats. This is a common policy among rescues & shelters and is for the safety of the cats and kittens.
The ferals in our colony cannot be released back to the colony since the property is being sold to a developer within a year. This means we have several ferals up for adoption! We require an application and adoption agreement on every barn cat; however, the adoption fee is waived. We require these cats to be crated for a minimum of 3 weeks on the property they are to be released on. This allows them time to get to know their surroundings. They must be provided with fresh food and water daily, even after release, to motivate them to stay on the property and not wander or run away.
